Nutritional Healing Guide to Supplements
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Since the beginning there were vitamins and minerals. They are natural and they are what your body and brain are made up of. It only makes sense to eat certain types of foods to feel better.

Natural is way better for you than the man made medications that harm your brain and body. Being exposed to harmful chemicals is bad and it seems people don’t realize that they are exposing these chemicals to their bodies through medications, water, air, and other methods. People are eating and drinking foods without knowing what’s in it and it could be causing them illnesses.

This book is a guide to natural supplements. It goes in detail about each vitamin and mineral. It explains about air and water exposures. This is a book I believe everyone should own. It’s time to go back to the natural ways of healing.

I was disappointed…
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This book was a disappointment to me. I have the 4th edition, and was hoping to find new information on tryptophan. Nope, same mistakes as the previous edition, and same dated material regarding it still being banned in the US. This book comes from the estate of Phyllis, and I suppose that explains why the info is incorrect about the tyrptophan – which is currently available at most vitamin shops.

This is a excellent reference book. It saved my husband’s life, with medications and natural healing. I had a older version and now I have this verison. It’s My BIBLE. A MUST HAVE.

The Nutritional Healing Bible of Our Time
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis Balch is a precious resource for comprehensive and up to date information regarding nutrition and natural remedies. Though the book is big, it is an easy read and indexed well to enable anyone to look up necessary facts quickly. All of the common medical conditions and symptoms are covered (including those in pregnancy) with cures suggested using herbs and other natural substances. The book starts with citing basic nutritional facts and dietary principles. The subsequent chapters discuss vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids and so forth. Also, the tables are helpful as they list the name of the substance; plant derived from, suggested dosages, side effects and any unique information. There are several editions out with the latest being the published in 2008. However, most the basic information appears to be the same in all editions. Many of the retail health food stores use this book as reference for their employees to help answer questions customers may have. I feel it is also a worthwhile resource to have in your personal bookshelf at home.

Good Starter on Supplements
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a good starter book to learn all about supplements – vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, anti-oxidants, herbs, as well as some natural food supplements.

Mom lives by this book!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My Mom is sold on this book so much so that she brought it with her from Maine to my house is Oklahoma just so she could show it to me. I tried to get it at the bookstore, but they said they can’t keep them in stock. It was cheaper here anyway.

supplemental reference
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a fairly good book with a very good selection of supplements and a decent amount of info. for each one listed. My only complaint is that the index is hard to use, in other words,, if you are looking up a certain thing, you may have to look at several different names for it,and sometimes have to thumb through the index under different headings. The big expensive hardcover book found in health stores is essentially the same thing, only this softcover version is significantly cheaper, a plus for the paperback version.

Great book but Kindle format has problems
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I recently purchased Prescription for Nutritional Healing: The A-to-Z Guide to Supplements (Kindle Edition), a book which love. I have owned it in multiple paper back editions and purchased it in Kindle format so I could do digital searches. So you can understand my dismay when the whole chapter on herbs is not only unsearchable but unreadable! The table the information is held must be in -1 font size with light gray font color. Plus since it’s obviously an image the information is unsearchable.

Very unfortunate.

not what I expected. I’m familiar with the “larger” edition, which was what I expected, not the condensed version.

disaster
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We expected this book to be a comprehensive description that the title said. We have such a book purchased previously. This book was a mere condensation of that which we wanted. It is useless! it is a waste of money! it is a misrepresentation!

Unexpected
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
In the past I have purchased the first 2 volumes and they were fantastic. This one left me cold. It was small in size and was not as easily readable. Locating different herbs was difficult and frustrating. I much preferred the layout in Volumes 1 and 2.

Great gift too
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Prescription for Nutritional Healing should be a staple in every home. These are the same reference books they use in the health food stores to help you choose what supplements to take for your particular ailment. Everything is listed by symptom which makes it very user friendly. There are listings for critical “must haves” and also some options for things that could be useful. I’ve used it many times and have found it to be the authority on wellness that might save you a trip or two to the doctor. I can’t live without it.

Excellent Book …Quick and Easy Transaction
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this book for my husband who is really into homeopathics. He had seen it in the store where he buys many of his supplents, etc. The Homeopath/Nutritionist who works there, had pulled this book out to show him something…he browsed through it and got the name and authour. He knew I ordered a lot of books from Amazon and asked me if I thought they would have this one. LOL OF COURSE, they will have it..I’ve never looked for one book that Amazon didn’t have. He uses it a lot and is very pleased to have gotten it at the low price. (after sneaking a look at the price on the one at the Organic Food and Supplement store).

Highly recommended..once again..easy ordering…quick shipping!!

a must have in every home
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Tons of easy to read information. This book is an excellent guide allowing the layperson to treat and cure many of the most common afflictions and ailments without the use of drugs. This guide uses herbs and treatments available at most health food and herb and vitamin stores. I will never try to do without again.

An excellent health resource
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is part of a large book, The Prescription for Nutritional Healing, and an excellent resource for information on supplements. Its small size makes it useful for taking to the store when looking for vitamins, etc.

Good reference guide
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a good book. The author describes in detail each vitamin/mineral/amino acid etc., what it’s role in your body is, & under which circumstances you would want to supplement with it. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because I didn’t like the newsprint-ish paper that it’s printed on. Other than that, this is a very handy little book to have around.

Prescription for nutritional healing: the a-z guide to supplements
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I was diasappointed in this and the “sister” book. I found no information on herbs I have used for my IBS. I also found the layout of both books confusing. I was hoping for a complete list of all herbal products, their uses, contraindications, and dosages for maximum efficacy. I would have returned it, but needed it for a gift that week.

Great book
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love this book. Lots of great info.

The only issue I have is, the author must be a vegetarian, and th ebiased shows through. She suggests limiting meat consumption due to antibiotics, etc. in the meats. What she fails to do is suggest comsuming organic meats instead.

Other than that, great book! I love it and use it ALLLLL the time.

It’s an OK book but…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought this book by accident I really wanted the complete third edition not a pocketbook size highlights book. I’d have returned it but it wasn’t worth the effort. Buy the 776 page Third Edition – the fourth edition has a few pages more and is organized differently but I decided on the Third Edition (price was right.)

Prescription for Nutritional Healing
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I wanted Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th Edition. I found a used edition on Amazon.com and ordered it. I received a copy sent by New CHAPTER RECYCLING, Inc. It was the 2nd Edition…not the 4th Edition and was quite worn..the book carried a price of $16.79…I Payed $27.98. So I am not happy..I didn’t get what I ordered and I feel I payed too much for the book. Kathleen Bankston
